A message from the board

Winter 2026 Update

The Lake Irene Preservation Association or LIPA represents the interests of the Lake Irene lakeshore property owners and other stakeholders. LIPA’s purpose is to improve, preserve, and secure the natural resources of Lake Irene and protect the interests of its residents and stakeholders. Activities LIPA is involved with include:

  • We are entering our final year of our five-year lake vegetation management plan developed in cooperation with the DNR for the purpose of controlling invasive curly-leaf pondweed (CLP). The plan has been very successful in significantly reducing the number of CLP plants found in the lake. LIPA has raised over $450,000 from a combination of lakeshore property owner donations, community groups and government grants to fund this effort. In our final year we will treat only those areas of the lake where CLP is in abundance.
  • Building our community is a principal tenant. The association’s social committee offers a number of membership activities each year including a July 4th boat parade, evening socials, an anchored beach ball, ice cream pontoon day, potluck bingo and more. Mark your calendars for June 19, 2026 for our Night at the Winery from 5-7pm at L'Etoile du Nord.
  • Maintaining a healthy fishery is a prime LIPA focus. The association works in cooperation with the DNR stocking walleye on a regular basis. Both the DNR and LIPA fund this annual activity. LIPA will be stocking walleye fingerlings in 2026. We continue to receive positive feedback from area ice fishermen regarding the results from recent stockings.
  • LIPA is the DNR liaison on issues like maintaining the lake’s DNR-owned public accesses.
  • LIPA holds an annual meeting and other meetings as necessary to communicate important lake information with its members. In addition, email is used extensively through the year to keep all members update on LIPA activities.
  • A couple of dates to note in your calendars. Plan to join us at the Miltona Community Center at 10am:
April 18, 2026: Lake Vegetation member update.
August 1, 2026: LIPA annual meeting.

We invite you to contact any board member if you have questions, concerns, or need information about joining LIPA.
